Despite the news I shared yesterday, it seems that God’s goodness is not done with me yet!
I am thrilled, honored, humbled, and overwhelmed to share that on December 12, I was unanimously approved by the Transitional Leadership Council as a clergy person in the Global Methodist Church AND recognized as approved for ordination as an elder*!
I received the email this morning and whooped so loudly that my oldest shouts, “What happened?” To which, hubby responded, “Oh, it’s just your mom and church.”
When I applied to the GMC, I knew I could be recognized as a deacon, but felt that God was calling me to more. I happily sent off my transcripts to be audited and prepared myself for the same pathway for my ordination as a deacon. I’d be missing a few classes and take them online. To my great joy, that is not the case. On February 4th at the Convening Conference of the Eastern Texas Conference of the GMC, I will be ordained as an elder!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
*For those of you who don’t speak “church,” many denominations have two categories of ordination – deacons and elders. Ordination as an elder requires more specific education and carries more responsibilities within the church.
If it is within my power, I will be there to watch this monumental event!
