Easy Guacamole

My family has enjoyed guacamole since we moved to Texas. I was not brave enough until recently to try making it at home. The biggest obstacle was my ignorance when it came to avocados. I didn’t eat them at all growing up and had no idea how to purchase a good one, let alone cut one. Fortune favors the brave, so I tried something new!

Turns out avocados aren’t that scary! I’ve learned to select the ones that are still firm. If they have a squishy area, that indicates bruising and you will loose some of the avocado-y goodness. Cut them in half and remove the pit. Then, just scoop the fruit out with a spoon. Who knew?

I’ve also learned that citrus press is a time saver with limes. I recently purchased this one and love it. It’s easy to use and dishwasher safe:

The rest of the recipe is pretty straightforward if you are handy with a knife. And then you have a super healthy snack or side-dish for your hungry family. That is if they get to it, before you finish it off!

Happy cooking!
